Apple and Pecan Sheet Cake

Ingredients

2 cups sugar

1/2 cup plus 2 TBSP. unsalted butter, softened

2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

2 large eggs

2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

2 teaspoons ground allspice

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tsp baking soda

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

2 pounds Honeycrisp or Golden delicious apples shredded

1 cup pecan toasted and chopped

Caramel Sauce to drizzle

 

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Beat butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla until smooth
  2. Add flour, cinnamon, allspice baking powder and salt in batches into the butter mixture
  3. Stir in shredded apples and bake in prepared pan (butter and  flour a sheet pan or 13 x 9 pan low edges.
  4. Bake approx. 55 minutes, cool cake in pan.
  5. Frost with cream cheese frosting and top cake with toasted pecans and caramel sauce drizzle
