The culinary renaissance woman will host three book signings for her recently released cookbook, Recipes & Reflections. I love cookbooks and have been reviewing and collecting them for three decades. Chef Judi, I admit, has a special place in my life. Having appeared on her TV show, watching in amazement as she chopped, sliced, seasoned and sautéed a stack of ingredients, transforming everything into a beautifully presented meal, I became an enthusiastic fan. Her cookbook confirms all that I know and believe about her. It overflows with culinary heritage, love of family and community and a commitment to optimism, a higher life.As I read this work, I recalled a passage from Ernest Hemingway’s “A Moveable Feast.” Describing a lunch in Paris when he was young, penniless and hungry, he enjoyed what was provided and wrote: “I lost the empty feeling and began to be happy.”Chef Judi’s masterpiece will do just that for those who love good food. May we all lose empty feelings and begin to be happy.
