This is a dish I started making to keep up with the crunchy french toast craze. Sorry but using Captain Crunch is not in my kitchen. I chose a delicious pumpkin spice granola. This dish I will serve during the Jewish New Year.
Ingredients
French Toast
- 1 loaf raisin challah or brioche
- 8 eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1 TBSP pure vanilla extract
- 3 cups granola
- 4-6 TBSP unsalted butter
- 8 eggs beaten
- Cinnamon
- Pumpkin butter
- Garnish– pure maple syrup
Apple topping:
- 8 honey crisp apples
- 2 TBSP butter
- Autumn spice. ( cinnamon, apple pie spice, all spice)
- 2TBSP sugar
Directions
- Apples: In a large pan melt butter and add apples and other ingredients. When apples are tender turn off heat.
- French toast: Beat eggs with milk, sugar, pure vanilla. And cinnamon.
- In a large griddle-pan melt 2 TBSP butter, Dip bread into egg batter and then into granola.
- Place in medium high pan with the melted butter. Cook to golden brown on both sides.
- Spread with pumpkin butter and top with warm spiced apples
